Melodie Thompson (American b. 1962) is an oil painter who has become known for her moody cityscapes inspired by the cities of Columbus, Cleveland and Chicago. Thompson’s style has become much more impressionistic as she uses palette knives, ink brayers and squeegees to apply and move the medium. The vibrant colors and techniques she employs gives her work an atmospheric quality. Her work has shown at galleries and juried shows across Ohio, Indiana and North Carolina. Thompson’s work is part of private collections across the United States and the United kingdom. Along with cityscapes, she also paints landscapes and portraits. She is known for using her creative energy in multiple arenas from painting murals to organizing multidimensional art events for charitable organizations.
