One of my favorites is Melodie Thompson’s “Carried By Her Father’s Jacket,” which is a portrait of a girl wearing her dad’s military jacket. As the eldest daughter of a man who served in two wars, this picture touched me deeply. My father's experiences shaped not only who he is, but also who I am. The painting hangs in my closet — my personal space — as a daily reminder of his selfless service and, more importantly, of what an amazing father he’s been to me.
